S-Man, of course. Peter David really crafted that world tightly. When the issue came out, my brother was headed to a con and I asked him to pick me up the first issue. He came back with that red foil cover. It was so intriguing to a little kid like me at the time!

Oh yes he did! That red foil cover was AWESOME!! Rick Leonardi and Peter David really shaped the futuristic feel of that world, from Uptown to Downtown, the Thorites, the Spiderites, the world of cyberspace and whatnot. Really touched everywhere in that amazing place. My first 2099 experience can be found here: 2099ugr.serialprizes.com/outtamyhead2.htmI, of course, was insanely-invested in the Ghost Rider series. It fully embraced that cyberpunk feel, Zero Cochrane was a shockin' RIOT/nutcase, and everything in it was totally disfunctional. It had this lived-in feel like Downtown New York had, but this insane cyberpunk energy where the mess of a city (that happened to be a highway itself) somehow just WORKED. I love dystopias.
